Controversy

Richmond Homes Scandal

In 2007, the Gerber family purchased and closed on a home with Richmond American in Fruit Heights. The city had issued a stop work order days before the closing. Fruit Heights then filed a notice to vacate sometime within the next year.

Richmond has refused to honor the warranty, and Fruit Heights has refused to offer reasoning as to why the window of approval was opened, causing the Gerber Family to be in a position to either lose their deposit or buy a house that was not sufficiently built.[4]
